Music Professional for AI Content Evaluation

Music professionals apply instrumental, compositional, or production expertise to evaluate AI-generated music and produce expert-level training data that helps AI systems better understand musical styles, traditions, and cultures. This is a part-time, project-based contract role you can do remotely alongside other work.

• Use hands-on experience in instrumental performance, composition, or music production to evaluate AI-created audio and musical outputs for accuracy, relevance, and stylistic appropriateness.
• Create and annotate expert training data that reflects real-world practice across styles and traditions.
• Provide clear, detail-oriented written feedback to inform model improvements.
• Work with the tools and workflows you use professionally to judge quality and realism of AI-generated content.
• No prior AI experience is required; domain expertise in music is the primary qualification.

• Master’s degree or higher required, Doctor of Musical Arts strongly preferred.
• Professional background in composition, jazz performance, guitar performance, commercial music, or instrumental performance such as saxophone or trumpet.
• Performance-focused degrees are preferred over musicology or ethnomusicology for this role.
• Strong instrumental performance skills and a track record of practical, hands-on experience.
• Experience with digital audio workstations such as Pro Tools, Logic Pro, or Ableton is a plus but not required.
• Strong written communication, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a remote, asynchronous environment.

• Fully remote, asynchronous work.
• Part-time, hourly contract engagement.
• No minimum hour requirement; contributors typically work about 5 to 20 hours per week when participating in an active project.
• Ongoing, project-based participation you can take on alongside other commitments.
• Placement on projects depends on current project needs; contributors may be considered for future projects as they become available.

Up to $100/hr (depending on the project)

• F-1 students who are eligible for CPT or OPT may be eligible to participate. Coordinate with your Designated School Official to determine whether this work meets your school’s CPT or OPT requirements.
• If your school requires enrollment in a specific CPT course, this project-based contract work may not satisfy that requirement.
• STEM OPT is not supported for this work.

• Begin assignments for active projects and receive payment as a contractor.
