Role Overview
Music experts apply ethnomusicology and performance knowledge of regional traditions to create, refine, and evaluate AI training materials and model outputs that reflect global musical practices.
Key Responsibilities- Develop domain-specific prompts and evaluation criteria for language models, with attention to regional music styles, terminology, and context.
- Evaluate LLM responses for musical accuracy, cultural specificity, and relevance to local traditions.
- Contribute expert annotations, feedback, and examples drawn from Latin America and the Caribbean, Asia including East, Southeast, and Central Asia, Oceania, and Sub-Saharan Africa.
- Work asynchronously with project teams to improve AI understanding of diverse music traditions.
- Advanced degree in Music, such as a Masters, PhD, or DMA. Ethnomusicologists and practicing musicians with equivalent regional expertise are encouraged to apply.
- Demonstrated expertise in regional music from one or more of these areas: Latin America and the Caribbean, Asia (East, Southeast, Central), Oceania, Sub-Saharan Africa.
- No prior technical or AI background required, though the ability to engage in asynchronous collaboration with AI research teams is necessary.
- Location: Remote, work independently from your location.
- Employment type: Part-time, listed as PART_TIME.
- Schedule: Flexible hours, asynchronous contributions, no minimum hourly commitment required.
- Project placement depends on project availability, candidates may be assigned to projects as opportunities arise.
- Up to $105/hr (depending on the project)
- F-1 students who are eligible for CPT or OPT may qualify for projects. Consult your Designated School Official to confirm whether a given project meets your school''s CPT or OPT requirements.
- If your school requires enrollment in a CPT course, these projects may not satisfy that requirement.
- STEM OPT is not supported for these projects.

- Placement and start dates will depend on project availability and onboarding completion.
