About this role

Role Overview

Work with a leading AI research lab to evaluate generative music models by listening to and assessing AI-produced songs in Mandarin Chinese, judging lyrics, vocal generation, musicality, creativity, and production quality using audio-engineering terminology.

Key Responsibilities
  • Listen to and evaluate AI-generated music samples, scoring them head-to-head on musicality, creativity, prompt adherence, vocal quality, and production or mix quality.
  • Assess AI model outputs including lyrics and voice generation against defined standards.
  • Score the quality of musical training data used by models.
  • Annotate songs in detail using a structured taxonomy, including genre and sub-genre classification, song structure, and vocal and instrumental characteristics.
  • Write and critique musical material in Mandarin Chinese where required.
  • Follow written and spoken directions provided in English.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 3 years of professional experience as a music producer, audio engineer, or sound mixer.
  • Demonstrable understanding of musical performance, music theory, and lyrical composition.
  • College degree in music that included performance, theory, and lyrics coursework.
  • Experience writing lyrical music in Mandarin Chinese.
  • Native or near-native proficiency in both Mandarin Chinese and English, able to understand directions in English.
Work Terms
  • Location: Remote.
  • Employment type: Hourly.
  • Start date: Immediate.
  • Duration: Up to 6 months.
  • Commitment: Part-time, 10+ hours per week.
Compensation
  • 30 - 54 hourly.
