Design and author graduate or postgraduate level, exam-quality multiple-choice assessment items in advanced mechanical engineering topics. Your work will translate complex concepts from solid and structural mechanics, dynamics and vibration and control, or thermal-fluids into single-option questions with clear, academically rigorous explanations and rationales. This contractor role is remote and contributes subject matter expertise to improve AI training and evaluation materials. No prior AI experience is required.
Key Responsibilities- Write rigorous single-option (multiple-choice) assessment questions calibrated to graduate or postgraduate complexity.
- Translate advanced concepts from Solid and Structural Mechanics, Dynamics and Vibration and Control, or Thermal-Fluids into challenging, exam-ready content.
- Provide detailed explanations and rationales for correct and incorrect answer choices, ensuring clarity and pedagogical quality.
- Review and validate the technical accuracy of AI-generated mechanical engineering materials.
- Collaborate asynchronously with other subject matter experts and project coordinators to refine content.
- Perform quality checks, revisions, and enhancements based on feedback and project standards.
- Maintain thorough records of assignments and submissions using provided digital workflow tools.
- PhD or MS in Mechanical Engineering preferred.
- Current or prior university-level teaching experience as a professor, adjunct, lecturer, or teaching assistant in one or more core areas: Solid and Structural Mechanics, Dynamics and Vibration and Control, or Thermal-Fluids.
- Experience authoring, grading, or reviewing graduate-level exams, problem sets, or coursework.
- Experience in assessment design, rubric development, or educational content creation is a plus.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, able to express intricate concepts concisely and accurately.
- Meticulous attention to detail and strong commitment to technical accuracy.
- Self-motivated, organized, and comfortable working independently in a remote, asynchronous environment; familiarity with collaborative digital platforms and digital workflow tools is beneficial.
