About this role

Role Overview

Contribute advanced mechanical engineering expertise to a high-impact AI research project by creating and validating graduate-level assessment materials. Your work will help train next-generation AI systems by producing exam-quality questions, clear solution rationales, and technical reviews, all delivered remotely on a task-by-task basis. Prior AI experience is not required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and author rigorous single-option multiple-choice assessment questions calibrated for graduate or postgraduate complexity.
  • Translate advanced concepts from Solid and Structural Mechanics, Dynamics, Vibration and Control, or Thermal-Fluids into challenging, exam-ready content.
  • Write detailed explanations and rationales for correct and incorrect answer choices, maintaining academic clarity and precision.
  • Review and validate the technical accuracy and pedagogical quality of AI-generated mechanical engineering materials.
  • Collaborate asynchronously with other subject matter experts and project coordinators to refine and improve content quality.
  • Perform quality checks, revisions, and enhancements on contributed materials according to project standards.
  • Maintain records of assignments and submissions using provided digital workflow tools.
  • Meet minimum weekly submission requirements for approved tasks.
Qualifications
  • Required skills: mechanical engineering subject-matter expertise, Solid and Structural Mechanics, Dynamics, Vibration and Control, Thermal-Fluids, technical writing, assessment design, educational content creation, excellent written and verbal communication, attention to detail, and commitment to technical accuracy.
  • Experience with remote collaboration, self-motivation, organization, and familiarity with digital workflow or collaborative platforms is expected.
  • Preferred: PhD or MS in Mechanical Engineering, and current or prior university-level teaching experience (professor, adjunct, lecturer, or TA) in one or more core areas listed above.
  • Preferred experience authoring, grading, or reviewing graduate-level exams, problem sets, or coursework, and background in assessment design or rubric development.
Work Terms
  • Engagement type: Contractor, remote work.
  • Output-based compensation, paid per task that meets project specifications.
  • Experts must submit a minimum number of tasks per week as a baseline commitment to the project.
  • Work is performed asynchronously, with collaboration and deliverable tracking through provided digital workflow tools.
  • Start timeline: roles are typically filled within 48 hours, and candidates should be ready to begin promptly if selected.
Compensation
  • Pay range: $60 to $130 per hour, applied as output-based payments per approved task.
  • Time to complete tasks will vary by expert experience and workflow, minimum submission requirements apply.
Eligibility
  • This role is open to independent contractors able to work remotely and meet the weekly submission expectations.
  • No prior AI experience is required; domain knowledge in mechanical engineering is the primary qualification.
  • Candidates must be able to use provided digital tools to submit work and maintain records.
Application Process

Submit your application to be considered for vetting, including your relevant academic credentials and teaching or assessment design experience. Applicants will undergo a vetting process to confirm subject-matter expertise and fit for the task-based workflow. If accepted, you will be assigned initial tasks, given access to the digital workflow tools, and provided the minimum weekly submission requirement and task specifications.
