Role Overview
Mechanical Engineering experts apply undergraduate-level mechanical engineering knowledge to create and evaluate domain-specific prompts, assess large language model outputs for technical accuracy, and help shape AI performance on engineering topics. This role is remote, asynchronous, and focused on improving AI behavior within mechanical engineering subdomains.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and refine domain-specific prompts, test cases, and evaluation criteria for LLMs.
- Review and rate LLM responses for correctness, clarity, and adherence to engineering principles.
- Research mechanical engineering topics to produce reference answers, edge cases, and explanations.
- Annotate outputs and provide detailed feedback to help improve model performance.
- Work asynchronously with AI research teams, following project-specific guidelines and timelines.
- Currently enrolled undergraduate student in mechanical engineering.
- Comfortable contributing to primarily asynchronous projects in collaboration with leading AI research teams.
- Confident that your subject-matter expertise can outperform current AI systems at explaining and reasoning about core mechanical engineering concepts.
- Willingness to learn new skills and to research topics of interest, using AI tools as part of your workflow.
- Location: Remote.
- Employment type: Part time.
- Schedule: Flexible, asynchronous work, with no minimum weekly hours required.
- Project placement depends on availability, the program runs year-round, and specific project openings vary by domain.
- Work independently from your chosen location while coordinating asynchronously with project teams.
- Up to $50/hr (depending on the project)
- F-1 students who are eligible for CPT or OPT may be eligible to participate. Work with your Designated School Official to confirm your individual eligibility.
- If your school requires enrollment in a CPT course for authorization, this program may not meet that requirement.
- STEM OPT is not supported.
