Mechanical Engineering Undergraduate for AI Research

Mechanical engineering experts apply undergraduate-level technical knowledge to create and evaluate AI model outputs for mechanical engineering topics, improving how large language models understand and explain domain concepts.

• Contribute feedback that guides model improvement across subdomains within mechanical engineering.

• Current undergraduate student in mechanical engineering.
• Comfortable working primarily in an asynchronous, remote format.
• Confident that your subject-matter expertise exceeds existing AI performance on key concepts in the field.
• Willingness to learn new skills while contributing to AI evaluation across related disciplines.

• Part-time, remote, asynchronous work.
• Flexible hours, with no minimum weekly time commitment required.
• Project placement depends on project availability, which varies by domain; the program runs year-round but not every domain will have continuous openings.

• Up to $50/hr (depending on the project).

• F-1 students who are eligible for CPT or OPT may be able to participate, subject to your school’s rules. Work with your Designated School Official to confirm eligibility.
• If your school requires enrollment in a CPT course, this program may not meet that requirement.
• STEM OPT is not supported.
