Role Overview

Industrial engineering students apply systems optimization, process design, and operations-analysis expertise to create and evaluate prompts and responses from large language models for manufacturing, supply chain, logistics, and operations contexts. This part-time remote role focuses on producing domain-specific prompts, assessing LLM outputs for technical accuracy and clarity, researching specialized topics with AI assistance, and expanding your applied skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop domain-specific prompts and scenarios for evaluating LLM behavior
  • Review, rate, and provide detailed feedback on model responses for technical accuracy, completeness, and clarity
  • Conduct independent research on industrial engineering topics using AI tools to inform prompt design and evaluation
  • Document findings and recommendations to improve model outputs and evaluation guidelines
  • Onboard into project-specific workflows and follow project instructions; placement into projects depends on availability
Qualifications
  • Current undergraduate student in industrial engineering
  • Ability to work primarily asynchronously and independently
  • Confidence that your subject-matter expertise can exceed current AI systems in understanding and explaining core concepts
  • Willingness to learn new skills and contribute across related disciplines
Work Terms
  • Part-time, remote, asynchronous engagement
  • Flexible hours with no minimum weekly commitment
  • The program runs year-round, however project availability will vary by domain and placement depends on open projects
Compensation

Up to $50/hr (depending on the project)

Eligibility
  • F-1 students who are eligible for CPT or OPT may be eligible to participate; consult your Designated School Official to confirm your specific eligibility
  • If your school requires enrollment in a CPT course, this program may not meet that requirement
  • STEM OPT is not supported
  • Consult the program help resources for complete details on acceptable work authorizations
