Role Overview
GIS Analysts apply environmental assessment, GIS, and renewable energy siting expertise to evaluate AI-generated geospatial outputs and produce expert-level training data that improves AI understanding of environmental workflows and geospatial practices.
Key Responsibilities- Use your hands-on experience with environmental assessment, GIS analysis, and renewable energy siting to review AI-generated content for technical accuracy and practical relevance.
- Create and annotate expert-level training data drawn from real-world workflows and geospatial data practices.
- Provide detailed, actionable feedback to help research teams refine AI outputs and align them with industry standards.
- Work asynchronously with AI research teams to complete evaluation and data-creation tasks using the tools and methods you use in daily practice.
- Minimum 2 years of professional experience in environmental analysis, GIS, or renewable energy siting.
- Relevant roles include, but are not limited to, Environmental Analyst, GIS Analyst, Interconnection Specialist, Solar Design Engineer, or equivalent positions in the energy industry.
- Hands-on experience with one or more of the following tools: ArcGIS, Oracle MDM, Aurora Solar.
- Strong written communication skills, high attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and asynchronously with distributed research teams.
- No prior experience with AI is required.
- Engagement type: hourly contract work, part-time.
- Location: fully remote.
- Schedule: flexible, asynchronous, with no minimum hour requirement.
- Typical time commitment: most contributors work approximately 5 to 20 hours per week while participating in an active project.
- This is an ongoing, project-based engagement you can do alongside other professional commitments.
- Placement on specific projects depends on current project needs, with opportunities to be considered for additional projects as they become available.
- Up to $85/hr (depending on the project)
