About this role

Role Overview

Postsecondary geoscience instructors evaluate AI-generated geological content and provide expert feedback to improve the system''s understanding of geological concepts, field practices, and academic language. This is a part-time, project-based contract role intended to complement your primary employment, not to replace a full-time faculty appointment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Use your classroom, laboratory, and field experience in geology to review AI-generated questions and responses for accuracy, clarity, and relevance to real-world instruction.
  • Design job-related questions, prompts, and scenarios that reflect authentic teaching and field practice in earth sciences.
  • Provide detailed, constructive feedback that helps refine technical content, terminology, and pedagogical appropriateness.
  • Follow written guidelines and apply professional judgment when assessing proprietary or sensitive content.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 4 years of professional experience teaching geology or a closely related Earth science subject at the post-secondary level.
  • Hands-on experience creating and delivering geology courses, laboratory exercises, or field-based instruction.
  • Strong written communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently.
  • Reliability, discretion, and the ability to handle sensitive or proprietary material appropriately.
  • No prior AI or technical experience is required.
  • Examples of relevant professional activities include delivering lectures, supervising lab and field work, conducting research and publishing, contributing to curriculum development, and participating in departmental committees.
Work Terms
  • Engagement type: Independent contractor, hourly, project-based. This is not a full-time employment role.
  • Location: Fully remote. Work from anywhere with a reliable internet connection and access to a desktop or laptop computer.
  • Schedule: Flexible and asynchronous, with no required minimum hours. Contributors assigned to active projects commonly work approximately 5 to 20 hours per week.
  • Duration and availability: The program runs year-round. Projects open periodically in different subject areas, and placement on a project depends on current needs. Qualified applicants may be considered for future projects as they become available.
Compensation

Up to $100/hr (depending on the project)

Eligibility
  • F-1 students with eligible CPT or OPT authorization may qualify to participate, but you must confirm eligibility with your Designated School Official. If your school requires enrollment in a CPT course, this program may not meet that requirement.
  • STEM OPT is not supported for this type of engagement.
  • You must be able to perform remote contract work under your applicable work authorization; no sponsorship is implied.
