About this role
Estimators apply their energy project cost estimation, construction planning, and solar design expertise to evaluate AI-generated content and produce expert-level training data. In this contract role you will review AI responses for technical accuracy and relevance, create or annotate examples based on real-world workflows and tools, and provide written feedback that helps AI better understand project development and cost estimation practices. This is a flexible, project-based engagement rather than a traditional full-time job.
Key Responsibilities- Use hands-on experience with energy project estimation, construction planning, and solar design to evaluate AI-generated responses for accuracy and relevance.
- Create, annotate, or correct expert training data that reflects real project development workflows and cost-estimation practices.
- Provide clear, actionable written feedback that highlights errors, edge cases, and correct methods.
- Work independently and asynchronously with AI research teams to meet project requirements and quality standards.
- At least 2 years of professional experience in energy project estimation, pre-construction, or solar design.
- Relevant roles include Estimator, Project Engineer, Pre-construction Manager, Solar Design Engineer, or equivalent positions in the energy industry.
- Hands-on experience with one or more of the following tools: Bluebeam Revu, RSMeans, Aurora Solar.
- Strong written communication skills, high attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and asynchronously with research teams.
- No prior AI experience required.
- Employment type: Part-time, hourly contract work.
- Location: Fully remote.
- Schedule: Flexible, asynchronous work with no minimum hour requirement.
- Typical engagement: Most contributors work approximately 5, 20 hours per week when participating in an active project.
- Project availability: Placement depends on current project needs, with the possibility to be considered for future projects as they become available.
