Role Overview
Engineering experts apply hardware engineering knowledge to design and evaluate domain-specific prompts and to assess Large Language Model responses, helping improve LLM performance within engineering subdomains.
Key Responsibilities- Develop domain-specific prompts for hardware engineering use cases.
- Evaluate and rate LLM responses for technical accuracy, clarity, and usefulness.
- Research engineering topics with AI assistance to create high-quality examples, edge cases, and annotations.
- Contribute to improving model behavior in your specialty area through detailed feedback and examples.
- Be a junior, senior, or graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in one of the following specialties: Industrial engineering, Mechanical engineering, Aerospace engineering, Materials engineering.
- Be currently at, or have graduated from, a top 20 undergraduate institution.
- Able to work primarily asynchronously in collaboration with leading AI labs.
- Confidence that your subject-matter expertise exceeds current AI systems in explaining and reasoning about key concepts in your field.
- Willingness to learn new skills while contributing across engineering disciplines.
- Remote, asynchronous engagement, work independently from your location.
- Flexible hours with an expected commitment of approximately 10 to 20 hours per week.
- Part-time engagement; placement into specific projects depends on project availability.
- The program runs year-round, though available projects will vary by domain.

- The role targets candidates with the Bachelor-level qualifications above. The program is also open to U.S.-based doctoral students, candidates, and recent graduates who hold valid work or training authorization, for example F-1/OPT, J-1, or H-1B.
- Participants are responsible for confirming their own visa or training authorization compliance with their sponsor or program before applying.
- At this time, candidates on STEM OPT who require a new i-983 are not eligible. Candidates with already approved i-983 forms, and those on pre-grad OPT, CPT, J-1, or H-1B, are not impacted. These eligibility details may change in the future.
