Role Overview
Engineering experts apply doctoral-level engineering knowledge to design domain-specific prompts, evaluate large language model outputs for technical correctness and clarity, and contribute to improving AI behavior across engineering disciplines.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and refine domain-specific prompts and evaluation tasks for LLMs, including test cases that probe technical depth and real-world applicability.
- Assess LLM responses for accuracy, relevance, clarity, completeness, and potential safety or bias concerns, and provide detailed feedback.
- Conduct independent research on engineering topics, using AI tools as an aid, and synthesize findings to inform evaluations and prompt design.
- Document results, create examples and counterexamples, and communicate asynchronous feedback to research teams.
- Learn new skills while contributing subject-matter expertise to projects across engineering subfields.
- Doctoral students, doctoral candidates, recent PhD graduates, or postdoctoral researchers in Engineering.
- Comfortable working primarily asynchronously and collaborating remotely with AI research teams.
- Confident that your subject-matter expertise can outperform current AI systems in explaining and reasoning about key engineering concepts.
- Part-time, fully remote, asynchronous engagement.
- Flexible scheduling with no minimum hours required.
- Year-round program intake, however project placement depends on availability and will vary by engineering domain.
Up to $80/hr (depending on the project)
