Engineering Doctoral Fellow for AI Research

Engineering experts apply deep technical knowledge to create and evaluate domain-specific prompts, review large language model outputs, and help improve AI systems'' understanding and explanation of engineering concepts.

• Design and refine domain-specific prompts and evaluation tasks for large language models.
• Review and grade model responses for technical accuracy, clarity, and relevance.
• Research engineering topics to inform prompt design and evaluation criteria.
• Collaborate asynchronously with AI teams and other subject-matter experts as needed.
• Learn new skills related to AI evaluation and contribute to advancing model performance in engineering domains.

• Doctoral students and graduates in Engineering, including those currently enrolled in doctoral programs or in postdoctoral positions.
• Comfort working primarily asynchronously and independently.
• Confidence that your engineering expertise can exceed current AI systems in explaining and reasoning about key field concepts.

• Location: Remote.
• Employment type: Part time.
• Work is asynchronous, with flexible hours and no minimum hourly commitment.
• Project placement and start dates depend on project availability in each engineering domain; projects are offered year-round but availability varies by field.

• Up to $80/hr (depending on the project).

• F-1 students who have or can obtain CPT or OPT may be eligible to participate. Consult your Designated School Official to confirm whether a given project meets your school''s requirements. If your school requires enrollment in a CPT course, this program may not satisfy that requirement.
• STEM OPT is not supported for participation in these projects.
