Energy Project Estimator for AI Evaluation

Energy project estimators apply construction cost estimation and solar design expertise to evaluate AI-generated outputs, produce professional analytical deliverables, and improve machine understanding of real-world estimation workflows. This is flexible, hourly contract work that can be performed alongside research, teaching, postdoctoral work, or industry employment.

• Evaluate AI-generated content against professional standards for energy project estimation and solar design.
• Independently produce expert-level analytical work and data outputs using your usual tools and workflows.
• Complete real tasks such as building price forecast models, performing architectural and engineering plan reviews for build or remodel cost estimation, and developing solar installation proposals or PPA documentation.
• Provide clear, actionable feedback that helps improve AI performance on estimation and design tasks.

• Minimum 2 years of professional experience in energy project estimation or solar design in roles such as Construction Cost Estimator, Solar Project Estimator, Solar Sales Engineer, Solar Designer, or equivalent energy industry positions.
• Bachelor''s degree or higher required.
• Proven ability to independently complete workflows including architectural and engineering plan review and solar installation customer proposal generation.
• Experience with one or more of the following tools: Bluebeam Revu, RSMeans, Aurora Solar.
• Strong written communication, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and asynchronously.

• Engagement type: part-time, independent hourly contract work, fully remote.
• Schedule: flexible and asynchronous, no minimum hours required. Most contributors work approximately 5 to 20 hours per week when participating in an active project.
• Placement is project-based and depends on current project needs. Participation in one project does not guarantee immediate placement on future projects, though contributors may be considered as new projects arise.

• Pay: Up to $80/hr (depending on the project).
• Compensation is hourly and tied to completed contract work on individual projects.

• F-1 students may be eligible if they have appropriate CPT or OPT authorization. Work with your Designated School Official to confirm eligibility. If your school requires enrollment in a CPT course, this contract arrangement may not meet that requirement.
• STEM OPT is not supported for this type of contract work.
• You must have the legal work authorization required to perform contract work in the jurisdiction where you will be working.
