Role Overview
Energy professionals apply hands-on renewable energy, microgrid, and asset performance expertise to evaluate AI-generated content and produce expert training data that improves AI understanding of energy engineering workflows. This is flexible, hourly contract work done remotely and structured around discrete, project-based engagements you can do alongside other commitments.
Key Responsibilities- Use your practical experience with renewable energy modeling, microgrid design, and asset performance analysis to review AI outputs for technical accuracy and relevance.
- Create expert-level training examples and annotations based on real-world workflows and tools you use day to day.
- Provide clear, detailed feedback and notes that capture edge cases, assumptions, and typical decision processes used in energy engineering.
- Document mistakes and recommend corrections so model responses align with standard industry practice and safety considerations.
- Minimum 4 years of professional experience in the energy industry in one or more of the following roles: Reservoir Engineer, Drilling Engineer, Production Engineer, Petrophysicist, Reserves Analyst, Plant Performance Engineer, Reliability Engineer, Plant Operator, Control Room Operator, Shift Supervisor, Meter Data Analyst, Meter Technician, Utility Technician, Utility Maintenance Worker, Billing Analyst, Regulatory Analyst, FERC Reporting Analyst, Rate Case Analyst, Renewable Generation Analyst, REC Trader, Solar Design Engineer, Interconnection Specialist, EHS Specialist, Process Safety Engineer, NERC CIP Analyst, Environmental Analyst, Power Market Analyst, Load Forecasting Analyst, PPA Analyst, Electrician, Electrical Technician, or Field Service Technician working in utility or industrial settings.
- Hands-on experience with common industry workflows, for example reservoir simulation, authorization for expenditure preparation, meter data validation, load forecasting, emissions reporting, predictive maintenance, regulatory rate case filing, or renewable generation forecasting.
- Strong written communication, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a remote, asynchronous environment.
- Engagement type: part-time, hourly contract work.
- Location: fully remote, work asynchronously.
- Schedule and hours: no minimum hour requirement; when active on projects most contributors work about 5 to 20 hours per week.
- Project availability: placement on projects depends on current needs; participation on one project does not guarantee future assignments, but contributors may be considered for new projects as they become available.
Up to $80/hr (depending on the project)
Eligibility- F-1 students may be eligible if they have CPT or OPT work authorization. Consult your Designated School Official to confirm whether participation meets your school requirements. If your school requires enrollment in a specific CPT course, this type of project work may not qualify. STEM OPT is not supported.
