About this role

Role Overview

Drilling Superintendents apply hands-on drilling, well planning, and operations expertise to evaluate AI-generated content and produce expert training data that improves AI understanding of drilling workflows and energy industry practices. This is contract, part-time work done remotely and on a flexible schedule, suitable to take on alongside other commitments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Use professional experience with drilling operations, well planning, and energy data systems to assess AI-generated responses for technical accuracy and relevance.
  • Create and annotate expert-level training data that reflects real-world drilling workflows and decision points.
  • Identify and document errors, edge cases, and missing context in AI outputs related to drilling and completions activities.
  • Provide clear written feedback to AI research teams, working asynchronously.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years of professional experience in drilling, completions, or related energy operations.
  • Relevant roles include Drilling Engineer, Completions Engineer, Well Cost Analyst, Drilling Superintendent, or equivalent positions in the energy industry.
  • Hands-on experience with one or more of the following tools: WellView, SAP, ComboCurve, AVEVA PI.
  • Strong written communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and asynchronously with technical teams.
  • No prior AI experience required.
Work Terms
  • Engagement type: hourly contract, part-time, independent contractor style work.
  • Location: fully remote.
  • Schedule: flexible, asynchronous, no minimum hour requirement.
  • Typical commitment when active on a project is approximately 5 to 20 hours per week.
  • Placement on projects depends on current project needs, and contributors may be considered for future projects as they become available.
Compensation

Up to $85/hr (depending on the project)
