About this role
Drilling Superintendents apply hands-on drilling and well planning expertise to evaluate AI-generated drilling content and produce expert training data that improves AI understanding of drilling workflows, well operations, and energy data systems. This is a project-based, flexible engagement you can perform alongside other commitments.
Key Responsibilities- Use field and operational experience with drilling and completions to review AI-generated responses for technical accuracy and practical relevance.
- Create expert-level training examples and annotations that reflect real drilling workflows, well planning decisions, and equipment use.
- Provide detailed feedback on model outputs to help AI systems better represent drilling procedures and energy industry practices.
- Work independently, delivering clear written assessments and corrections to AI research teams in an asynchronous format.
- Minimum 2 years of professional experience in drilling, completions, or related energy operations.
- Relevant roles include Drilling Engineer, Completions Engineer, Well Cost Analyst, Drilling Superintendent, or equivalent positions in the energy sector.
- Hands-on experience with one or more of the following tools: WellView, SAP, ComboCurve, AVEVA PI.
- Strong written communication skills, high attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and asynchronously with distributed teams.
- No prior AI or machine learning experience required; practical industry experience is the primary qualification.
- Location: Fully remote.
- Employment type: Part time, project-based engagement.
- Schedule: Flexible, asynchronous; there is no minimum hour requirement.
- Typical commitment when participating in an active project is approximately 5 to 20 hours per week.
- Placement on projects depends on current project needs; contributors may be considered for future projects as they become available.
