About this role

Role Overview

Drilling/Production engineers apply field and production expertise to evaluate AI-generated content and produce expert-level training data that improves AI understanding of operations workflows and performance engineering practices. This is a part-time, hourly contract engagement that is fully remote and project-based, designed to be taken on alongside other professional commitments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review AI-generated responses for technical accuracy, operational relevance, and alignment with real-world workflows in drilling and production environments.
  • Create expert-level training examples and annotations based on hands-on experience and the everyday tools you use.
  • Provide clear, actionable feedback and corrections to help refine AI behavior on topics such as plant performance, reliability, and asset management.
  • Document edge cases, failure modes, and practical considerations from industrial operations to improve model performance.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years of professional experience in industrial operations, plant performance, or energy asset management in roles such as Plant Performance Engineer, Reliability Engineer, SCADA Engineer, Drilling/Production Engineer, Generation Asset Analyst, or equivalent positions in the energy industry.
  • Hands-on experience with one or more of the following tools: AVEVA PI, WinCC, Oracle MDM, Power BI, Bloomberg Terminal.
  • Strong written communication skills, high attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and asynchronously with research teams.
  • No prior AI experience required.
Work Terms
  • Employment type: part-time, hourly contract work, fully remote.
  • Schedule: flexible and asynchronous, with no minimum hour requirement; most contributors work approximately 5 to 20 hours per week when participating in an active project.
  • Project placement depends on current needs; participation in one project does not guarantee immediate placement on others, but contributors may be considered for future projects as they become available.
Compensation

Up to $85/hr (depending on the project)
