About this role
Apply hands-on chemistry and materials science expertise to help improve next-generation AI systems through data-rich technical insight, real-world workflow analysis, and expert feedback. This remote contract role is designed for professionals who use AI coding agents as part of complex scientific and technical work.
Key Responsibilities- Provide comprehensive, data-rich insights drawn from chemistry or materials science experience to support AI training and evaluation.
- Document real-world uses of AI coding agents for large codebase navigation, complex debugging, feature development, and architectural changes.
- Write detailed accounts of technical methods, challenges, problem-solving strategies, and the impact of AI tools on scientific work.
- Participate in feedback sessions and communicate methodologies clearly in writing and verbally.
- Assess the strengths and limitations of AI agents in technical workflows and recommend improvements for STEM applications.
- Collaborate remotely with the project team to share subject-matter knowledge and support knowledge transfer.
- Contribute datasets and training materials that reflect authentic chemistry and materials science work using AI code-generation tools.
- Identify case studies and complex technical challenges where AI coding agents improved productivity or enabled new scientific outcomes.
- Advanced degree, or equivalent professional experience, in chemistry, materials science, chemical engineering, or a closely related STEM field.
- Strong chemistry and materials science expertise, including computational chemistry, materials modeling, or laboratory automation experience.
- Proficiency using AI coding agents, including Codex, Claude Science, Claude Code, and Claude Cowork, to generate code sequences in scientific environments.
- Experience applying AI agents beyond basic code assistance, including debugging intricate issues, building end-to-end features, and addressing ambiguous scientific problems.
- Experience working with large or complex codebases.
- Strong scientific problem-solving, analytical thinking, critical thinking, technical documentation, written communication, verbal communication, and remote collaboration skills.
- Remote contract engagement.
- $80 to $100 per hour.
