Apply computational mathematics expertise to help train next-generation AI systems through practical, real-world technical input. This remote contract opportunity focuses on how AI coding agents can support complex mathematical and software engineering work.
Key Responsibilities- Provide detailed examples of using Codex, Claude Science, Claude Code, and Claude Cowork in computational mathematics projects.
- Document AI-assisted workflows for navigating large codebases, debugging complex issues, delivering end-to-end features, and making architectural changes.
- Explain project goals, technical challenges, and the specific contribution of AI agents in clear written and verbal formats.
- Assess the effectiveness of different AI agent tools for ambiguous or open-ended mathematics and coding problems.
- Submit concise reports covering project complexity, problem context, and AI-supported decision-making.
- Share feedback on the practical use and limitations of AI tools in computational mathematics, including remote consultations or knowledge-sharing sessions as needed.
- Current STEM professional with hands-on computational mathematics experience.
- Knowledge of Python, technical documentation, complex problem solving, and debugging sophisticated codebases.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage deliverables independently in a remote-work environment.
- Experience integrating AI coding agents into technical workflows, especially to generate and refine actionable code sequences rather than solely chat-based tasks, is preferred.
- Experience with Codex, Claude Science, Claude Code, and Claude Cowork, including AI-assisted debugging, architectural modification, or large ambiguous problem sets, is preferred.
- Ability to evaluate and document the value and boundaries of AI agent use in technical settings.
- Enthusiasm for advancing practical AI adoption in computational mathematics.
- Remote independent contractor engagement.
- No prior AI experience is required. Computational mathematics domain expertise is the core requirement.
- $80 to $100 per hour.
