About this role
Completions Engineers apply hands-on drilling and completions expertise to evaluate AI-generated outputs and produce expert-level training data that improves AI understanding of well planning, drilling operations, and energy data systems.
Role OverviewThis is a part-time, project-based independent contractor role performed fully remotely. You will use your practical experience with drilling operations, well planning, and energy data systems to review AI responses for technical accuracy and relevance, and to create or validate training examples. No prior experience working with AI is required.
Key Responsibilities- Review AI-generated content about drilling, completions, and related workflows for factual accuracy and operational relevance.
- Provide clear, actionable feedback and corrections that help improve AI behavior and domain understanding.
- Create expert-level training examples and annotations based on your practical experience and standard operating procedures.
- Document edge cases, ambiguities, and real-world constraints encountered in drilling and well planning workflows.
- Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in drilling, completions, or related energy operations.
- Relevant roles include, but are not limited to, Drilling Engineer, Completions Engineer, Well Cost Analyst, Drilling Superintendent, or equivalent field and office positions.
- Hands-on familiarity with one or more of the following tools: WellView, SAP, ComboCurve, AVEVA PI.
- Strong written communication, close attention to detail, and the ability to work independently on asynchronous tasks with remote AI research teams.
- Engagement type: part-time, hourly contract work as an independent contractor.
- Location: fully remote, asynchronous contributions.
- Schedule: flexible, no minimum hour requirement; most contributors work approximately 5 to 20 hours per week when participating in an active project.
- Project placement depends on current project needs; participation in one project does not guarantee placement in future projects, but contributors may be considered for additional opportunities as they arise.
