Music Transcription Expert for AI Training

Role Overview

Turn complex polyphonic recordings into precise, structured musical scores for AI training work. You will reconstruct complete SATB performances from mixed audio, including separating soprano, alto, tenor, and bass parts from mono recordings and producing accurate MusicXML notation. This is a music transcription role, not a general audio production or speech transcription position.

Key Responsibilities

• Transcribe polyphonic musical recordings into structured notation.
• Identify individual SATB vocal lines in a mono mix.
• Determine pitches, onsets, durations, rests, and re articulations.
• Quantize musical events to the appropriate rhythmic grid.
• Apply correct key signatures, accidentals, and enharmonic spellings.
• Create or modify MusicXML files.
• Use Python to inspect audio, analyze spectral information, and automate portions of the transcription workflow.
• Validate completed transcriptions through musical review, structured checks, or resynthesis.

Qualifications

• Strong Python programming ability and experience with MusicXML.
• Advanced ear training and polyphonic transcription skills.
• Strong command of harmony, rhythm, voice leading, and standard music notation.
• Experience with SATB music, choral arranging, score preparation, or closely related polyphonic transcription work.
• Experience with tools such as librosa, NumPy, SciPy, music21, Essentia, pretty_midi, MuseScore, or comparable audio analysis and notation software is helpful. No particular tool is required when skills are transferable.
• Formal education and a specific number of professional years are not required. Performers, arrangers, composers, choir musicians, researchers, and independent transcription specialists are welcome to apply when they can demonstrate the required capabilities.

Work Terms

• Independent contractor role, fully remote and open globally.
• Approximately 15 hours per week.
• Flexible schedule: choose your working days and hours, including weekends if preferred.
• Work is paid per completed task that meets project specifications. Completion time varies by experience and workflow.
• Minimum weekly task submission requirements apply.
• Selected candidates should be ready to begin their first tasks within 24 to 48 hours after completing onboarding. Roles are typically filled within 48 hours.

Compensation

$50 to $100 per hour.
