Air Traffic Controller for AI Model Evaluation

Air Traffic Controllers apply their operational expertise to evaluate AI model outputs related to air traffic control, judge the accuracy and safety of model-generated content, and provide clear, structured feedback that improves the model''s understanding of ATC procedures, communications, and workplace language. No prior AI experience is required.

• Evaluate responses produced by AI models for technical accuracy, safety relevance, procedural correctness, and appropriate language for pilots and controllers.
• Develop prompts and scenario descriptions that reflect real air traffic control tasks and language.
• Assess model-generated content against real-world ATC practices, flagging errors, omissions, or unsafe recommendations.
• Provide concise, structured feedback to help refine model behavior and outputs in ATC contexts.

• At least 4 years of professional experience in air traffic control or closely related operational roles.
• Relevant real-world responsibilities that provide the context needed to evaluate and train AI models, for example:
• Coordinating and managing the safe and efficient movement of aircraft within assigned airspace and on the ground, including communicating weather, visibility, and potential hazards to pilots.
• Issuing landing and takeoff instructions, monitoring aircraft using radar, and maintaining communications with adjacent control centers to ensure seamless flight operations.
• Ability to perform asynchronous work and collaborate remotely with AI research teams.

• Position type: Part time.
• Location: Remote, asynchronous work, complete tasks independently from your location.
• Hours: Flexible with no minimum commitment, most contributors average 5 to 20 hours per week.
• Typical activities: authoring prompts that reflect ATC scenarios, reviewing and rating model responses, and providing structured feedback.
• Project placement depends on availability, projects run year-round and opportunities open periodically across different specialties.

• Up to $120/hr (depending on the project)

• F-1 students who are eligible for CPT or OPT may be eligible to participate, subject to approval from your Designated School Official. If your school requires enrollment in a CPT course, this program may not meet that requirement.
• STEM OPT is not supported.
