About this role

Role Overview

AEC specialists apply architectural, engineering, and construction domain expertise to help train and evaluate AI models using BIM and related tools. In this role you will use your practical experience with tools like FreeCAD BIM/IFC, VectorWorks, and BlenderBIM (Bonsai) to create domain-specific prompts, assess large language model outputs, and improve how AI systems understand real-world professional tasks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and refine domain-specific prompts and test cases for AI models using AEC workflows and data.
  • Evaluate and annotate LLM responses for technical accuracy, relevance, and adherence to professional standards.
  • Apply hands-on experience with BIM tools to produce examples, edge cases, and guidance that reflect real project conditions.
  • Collaborate asynchronously with AI research teams, providing domain feedback and iterative improvements.
  • Learn and adopt new evaluation techniques and tooling as projects require.
Qualifications
  • At least 1+ years of full-time work experience using one or more of the following tools: VectorWorks, FreeCAD BIM/IFC, BlenderBIM (Bonsai), or other related technical AEC tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to work asynchronously and independently with distributed research teams.
  • Familiarity with BIM workflows and the ability to translate practical tasks into testable prompts and evaluation criteria.
Work Terms
  • Employment type: Part time, remote.
  • Work is asynchronous, completed independently from any location.
  • Flexible scheduling, there is no minimum hourly commitment required.
  • Placement on specific projects depends on current project availability; the program runs year-round and opportunities open periodically.
Compensation
  • Pay rate: Up to $125/hr (depending on the project).
Eligibility
  • F-1 students may be eligible if they have appropriate CPT or OPT authorization. Consult your Designated School Official to confirm eligibility.
  • If your school requires enrollment in a CPT course, this type of project work may not meet that requirement.
  • STEM OPT is not supported for these projects.
