About this role
Role Overview
Evaluate AI-generated work on realistic accounting assignments, assessing whether conclusions are correct, complete, properly documented, and supported by reliable evidence. This role requires practical US GAAP expertise and the judgment to distinguish completed, recorded work from unsupported claims or draft-only activity.
Key Responsibilities
- Review accounting-task responses and determine whether the conclusions and supporting rationale are accurate and sufficient.
- Verify that work was completed and recorded, including booked entries, logged findings, and filed deliverables.
- Identify fabricated or overstated work, such as invented support, procedures that were claimed but not performed, and unsupported figures.
- Assess whether the appropriate accounting method was applied to the relevant issue and require verification before work is finalized.
- Provide clear, specific rationales explaining agreement or disagreement with each reviewed response.
- Evaluate US GAAP financial statements, period-end close activities, reporting cycles, reconciliations, substantive analytics, source-document tie-outs, and subledger-to-general-ledger reconciliations.
- Assess the implications of open, locked, and reopened accounting periods; materiality; errors and misstatements; adjusting journal entries and related effects such as deferred tax.
- Distinguish posted ledger entries from drafts, unposted batches, and working-paper adjustments.
- Apply knowledge of ASC 606 revenue recognition, ASC 842 leases, ASC 350/360 impairment, ASC 740 income taxes, ASC 326 credit losses, ASC 805 business combinations, and significant estimates including reserves and allowances.
- Review documentation for appropriate workpaper and memo standards, cross-referencing, sign-off, and review-ready completeness, confirming that every figure, citation, and procedure is genuinely supported.
Qualifications
- At least 3 years of professional accounting experience in external audit, controllership or technical accounting, FP&A, tax, or a combination of these areas.
- Current or recent hands-on experience working under US GAAP.
- Strong professional judgment and the ability to quickly identify unsupported amounts, incorrectly applied standards, and incomplete deliverables.
- CPA designation or active pursuit of one, Big 4, firm, or industry experience, or equivalent experience.
- Comfort using professional accounting tools, including engagement or audit platforms such as CaseWare, GL or ERP systems such as NetSuite, and BI or reporting tools such as Power BI.
- Ability to read financial statements and supporting schedules.
Work Terms
- Remote, hourly engagement.
Compensation
- $85 per hour.
