Technical Writer

Role Overview

Shape next-generation AI systems by turning real-world technical expertise into rigorous evaluation tasks, source materials, and scoring criteria. This remote contract opportunity focuses on creating clear, precise, and testable technical content for an AI benchmark project. Prior AI experience is not required.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and write expert-level evaluation tasks using realistic technical materials, including CSV files, PDFs, spreadsheets, and technical documents.
• Create and curate source materials such as product specifications, code samples, subject-matter-expert interview notes, and regulatory documentation.
• Define solution criteria and expected outputs for technical problem-solving assignments.
• Develop detailed grading rubrics with 35 or more criteria that assess accuracy, precision, testability, and audience alignment.
• Draft authentic technical documentation assignments, including API references, user guides, and compliance documents.
• Collaborate asynchronously with project leads to refine deliverables and align work with benchmark objectives.

Qualifications

• 2 to 4 or more years of experience and a portfolio in software, hardware, medical devices, or regulated industries.
• Strong technical writing skills, including precision writing, source synthesis, and audience calibration.
• Demonstrated ability to produce precise, testable technical documentation and instructions.
• Advanced structured authoring skills, style-guide adherence, and familiarity with documentation toolchains.
• Exceptional written English and the ability to adjust tone and technical detail for different audiences.
• Strong analytical and synthesis skills for converting complex source material into clear guidance.
• Experience defining acceptance criteria and rubrics for technical assignments.
• Familiarity with technical benchmarking or evaluation methodologies is preferred.

Work Terms

• Remote, independent contractor engagement.
• Work is submitted as tasks that meet project specifications, and completion time varies by experience and workflow.
• Minimum submission requirements apply, including a minimum number of tasks each week.
• Selected candidates are expected to begin their first tasks within 24 to 48 hours after completing required onboarding.

Compensation

The stated compensation range is $30 to $60 per hour. Compensation is output-based and paid per task that meets project specifications.
