Role Overview
Apply production software engineering expertise to help train next-generation AI systems through rigorous technical analysis, documentation, and written feedback. This remote contract role focuses on translating real-world engineering judgment into clear, high-quality input that improves how AI systems learn, reason, and perform. Prior AI experience is not required.
Key Responsibilities
- Explain the reasoning behind technical decisions, including system design considerations and trade-offs.
- Review code samples and architectural proposals, providing detailed written feedback on strengths, weaknesses, and improvements.
- Create technical documentation, including RFCs, ADRs, and design specifications, that clarifies engineering approaches and their rationale.
- Conduct structured code reviews and debugging exercises, documenting step-by-step reasoning and recommended solutions.
- Develop practical automation testing strategies and performance-analysis reports, identifying optimization opportunities and best practices.
- Translate complex engineering concepts into concise, accessible language for a broad audience.
Qualifications
- At least 3 years of experience delivering production-grade software with a modern technology stack.
- Experience with software engineering, system design, code review, automation testing, debugging, performance analysis, and trade-off analysis.
- Demonstrated technical writing ability, including RFCs, ADRs, design documentation, or substantial code review commentary.
- Strong analytical ability in system design, performance evaluation, and debugging real-world software challenges.
- Clear, persuasive written English communication skills.
- Familiarity with automation testing frameworks and performance or trade-off analysis methods.
- Experience collaborating with or contributing to leading organizations or well-regarded academic institutions is preferred.
- Interest in work that combines deep engineering knowledge with sophisticated writing.
Work Terms
- Remote contract engagement.
Compensation
- $90 to $140 per hour.
