Role Overview
Design and build next-generation financial technology systems that combine product thinking, infrastructure, and applied engineering. This full-time, remote role delivers reliable, scalable fullstack applications and thoughtful user experiences for financial workflows, working across frontend, backend, and cloud infrastructure as part of the Financial Platform Core team at micro1.
Key Responsibilities- Write, ship, and maintain production code daily across fullstack applications using Node.js, React.js, Next.js, and PostgreSQL.
- Design and implement scalable backend services and RESTful APIs on AWS infrastructure.
- Build responsive, maintainable frontend interfaces; diagnose and fix React rendering issues and tune PostgreSQL queries.
- Collaborate with product, design, and cross-functional engineering teams to turn requirements into shipped features.
- Maintain high standards for system reliability, security, and financial data integrity.
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, perform and participate in code reviews, and follow engineering best practices.
- Document work and communicate clearly in code, design docs, and team discussions.
- 5+ years of professional software development experience, with active hands-on coding within the last 12 months across both frontend and backend.
- Recent, strong backend experience with Node.js, including examples of what you have shipped in the last year.
- Advanced frontend experience with React.js and Next.js, including hooks, state management, and modern Next.js features such as the App Router and SSR or ISR.
- Solid working knowledge of PostgreSQL, including schema design, query optimization, indexing, and data modeling.
- Hands-on experience with AWS services such as EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, and CloudWatch.
- Proven experience designing and integrating REST APIs in production.
- Proficiency with Git, CI/CD workflows, and agile development practices.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills. Be prepared to share recent work and what you shipped in the past year.
- Nice to have: Python, fintech or financial systems experience, Docker, Kubernetes, GraphQL, Redis, caching strategies, microservices architecture, and modern testing frameworks such as Jest, PyTest, or Cypress.

- Advertised compensation range for this role: $180, 000 - $230, 000 yearly.
- Compensation notice included with the posting lists a national pay range of $140, 000 - $160, 000 USD for this position.
