About this role

Role Overview

Design and author realistic civil engineering evaluation tasks and reference outputs for AI systems used in large-scale infrastructure and construction programs. Workflows are calibrated to design complexity, public safety stakes, and regulatory scope, and contributors produce scenarios and rubrics that reflect how senior civil engineering leaders evaluate work.

Key Responsibilities
  • Construct civil engineering scenarios that cover large-scale infrastructure design cycles, multi-stakeholder permitting and regulatory review, and complex construction management or public works processes.
  • Build tasks across technical areas including structural design and analysis, transportation and highway engineering, water resources and environmental engineering, geotechnical engineering, and construction project management.
  • Develop scenarios that incorporate common industry tools such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, Revit, STAAD.Pro, ETABS, HEC-RAS, and enterprise project management platforms used on major infrastructure programs.
  • Apply civil engineering methodologies, for example structural load analysis, geotechnical site assessment, hydrology and hydraulic modeling, and AASHTO and ASCE design standards, producing reference design plans, engineering calculations, and stakeholder or regulatory-facing technical narratives.
  • Author rubrics and evaluation criteria that distinguish authentic senior engineering judgment from generic textbook or coursework-level recall.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years of experience working as a civil engineer or engineering lead at a major engineering firm, construction company, or public infrastructure agency, for example AECOM, Jacobs, Bechtel, state Departments of Transportation, or large municipal public works departments.
  • Direct ownership or leadership of large-scale infrastructure designs, permitting processes, or construction project delivery.
  • Fluency with civil engineering tools and methodologies, and practical understanding of regulatory approvals, environmental review processes such as NEPA, and public agency oversight.
  • Professional Engineer license is strongly preferred.
  • Prior experience authoring rubrics, engineering training curriculum, or formal design documentation is a plus.
Work Terms
  • Location: Remote.
  • Employment type: hourly engagement.
Compensation
  • Pay range: 70 - 80 hourly.
Eligibility

No additional work-authorization or sponsorship information was provided. Applicants should be able to perform the remote, hourly engagement under the work and payment arrangements applicable in their jurisdiction.
