Role Overview
Contribute bilingual Portuguese expertise to create, annotate, and validate language data that improves state of the art AI models. You will apply Portuguese language knowledge and annotation experience to produce high-quality labeled data, review translations, and advise on linguistic consistency for projects spanning domains such as finance, healthcare, and STEM engineering. This is a remote contractor role supporting a leading AI data lab that transforms subject matter expertise into training data and evaluation assets for frontier models and AI agents.
Key Responsibilities- Annotate, label, and review Portuguese language data for AI and machine learning use.
- Ensure linguistic accuracy and consistency across annotations and curated datasets.
- Provide expert feedback on language usage, translations, and overall data quality.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align on language standards and project guidelines.
- Document annotation processes, propose workflow improvements, and share best practices.
- Participate in team discussions to surface language nuances and contribute to language resource development tailored to project needs.
- Native or near-native proficiency in Portuguese, with strong command of regional variations relevant to Brazil.
- Fluency in English.
- Demonstrated experience in data annotation or language data processing.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and high attention to detail.
- Solid understanding of Portuguese grammar and syntax.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment and meet deadlines.
- Experience collaborating with multicultural, distributed teams.
- Background in linguistics, language studies, or a related field.
- Prior work on AI, localization, or language technology projects.
- Familiarity with annotation tools and platforms.
