Ophthalmologist for AI Research Evaluation

Ophthalmologists will apply clinical experience to evaluate AI-generated ophthalmology content, judge its clinical accuracy and clarity, and provide detailed feedback that improves how AI systems represent ophthalmic concepts, workflows, and professional medical language in general, non-patient-specific contexts. This is a part-time, project-based role that can be done alongside your primary employment.

• Review AI-generated prompts, questions, and answers related to ophthalmology for clinical accuracy, clarity, and appropriateness in non-patient-specific scenarios.
• Design or refine job-related questions and scenarios that reflect real-world ophthalmology practice and workflows.
• Provide written feedback and rationale for corrections, including clinical reasoning and preferred terminology.
• Follow written guidelines for reviews, maintain documentation of evaluations, and escalate atypical issues when needed.
• Maintain discretion and confidentiality when handling proprietary project materials.

• Minimum 4 years of post-training professional experience practicing ophthalmology.
• Clinical, hands-on experience diagnosing and managing eye conditions, performing ophthalmic procedures, and communicating clinical information to patients and other clinicians.
• Comfortable working independently, following written instructions, and meeting quality expectations.
• Strong written communication skills and attention to detail.
• Professional judgment, reliability, and a high standard of discretion with sensitive information.
• No prior AI or technical experience is required.
• Typical backgrounds include comprehensive or subspecialty ophthalmologists, such as retina, glaucoma, cornea, pediatrics, and oculoplastics, as well as consultant, attending, or academic ophthalmologists who combine clinical practice with teaching or research.

• Engagement type, independent contractor.
• Location, fully remote. Requires a reliable internet connection and access to a desktop or laptop computer.
• Schedule, flexible and asynchronous. There is no guaranteed minimum weekly hour requirement. Many contributors work approximately 5 to 20 hours per week when assigned to active projects.
• Duration and availability, projects run year-round and open periodically across areas of expertise. Placement on projects depends on current needs; qualified applicants may be considered for future project opportunities as they arise.
• This is not a traditional full-time clinical role, it is project-based and compatible with other professional commitments.

• Pay rate, Up to $300/hr (depending on the project).

• F-1 visa holders with eligible CPT or OPT authorization may be able to participate, but you must confirm eligibility with your Designated School Official. If your school requires enrollment in a specific CPT course, this program may not meet that requirement.
• STEM OPT is not supported for this role.
• Placement is contingent on project needs and on meeting any applicable authorization requirements.
