About this role

Build and validate realistic evaluation tasks based on real civil, site, and survey documentation. You will create both the task and its correct answer from drawings, maps, aerial imagery, and site records, then a second reviewer in your discipline will review the work before release.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop tasks involving civil grading, erosion and sediment control, stormwater design, roadway plan checks, work-zone and traffic control, utility service drawings, floodplain permits, civil RFI responses, and landscape ordinance and tree-protection reviews.
  • Create and assess work involving earthwork quantity verification, stockpile volume certification, ALTA Table A items, title survey exceptions, closing-survey setbacks, elevation-certificate photo checks, topographic map and map-stack review, historic aerial and Sanborn map dating, and assessor-sketch verification.
  • Produce accurate, structured deliverables comparable to professional plan-review comments, survey-exception schedules, and measured reads.
Qualifications
  • Current or recent experience as a civil engineer, land development engineer, land surveyor, geospatial analyst, or Phase I environmental analyst producing or reviewing site, civil, or survey work.
  • Professional Engineer credential in civil engineering, or Professional Land Surveyor credential for survey and mapping work.
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience, with 8 or more years preferred.
  • Based in the United States and experienced with U.S. standards, state DOT requirements, or local land-development practices.
  • Ability to work confidently across drawing sets, aerials, topographic maps, and parcel data.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience reviewing submittals for an agency or DOT, mentoring EITs or survey crews, managing agency resubmittal cycles, or working across multiple jurisdictions with differing review requirements.
Role Fit
  • This role is best suited to professionals with engineered-drawing design or review responsibility. It is not intended for GIS analysts without engineered-drawing review experience, drone pilots without survey credentials, environmental scientists focused on sampling rather than site-plan review, or CAD technicians without design or review responsibility.
Work Terms
  • Remote, U.S.-based hourly engagement.
Compensation
  • $45 to $60 per hour, based on experience, with potential rate growth as the project scales.

What to prepare before applying

  1. PE in civil engineering, or PLS for survey and mapping work.
  2. US based.
  3. Drone pilots must have survey credentials.
  4. Currently hold, or recently held, a role producing or reviewing site, civil, or survey work as a civil engineer, land development engineer, land surveyor, geospatial analyst, or Phase I environmental analyst.
