Character and Facial Animator for AI Model Evaluation

Help shape how AI systems evaluate and preserve the timing, emotion, micro-expressions, and physical nuance of human and character performances. This part-time role supports the development of performance-transfer models by defining high-quality evaluation standards and helping expert reviewers assess model outputs.

• Define clear standards for evaluating emotional resonance and physical fidelity in transferred performances, and identify gaps in current evaluation methods.
• Curate benchmark performances, including examples that are straightforward to capture and examples that present meaningful challenges.
• Define the ideal reviewer profile, expertise mix, and scoring rubric for human evaluation at scale.
• Collaborate with other subject-matter experts to maintain consistent, accurate evaluations.

• At least 4 years of hands-on character animation experience, with character or human performance as your primary craft.
• Verifiable credits on at least two feature films, animated features, or AAA game cinematics produced at recognized studios.
• Experience in facial animation or performance capture, such as facial keyframing, motion-capture solving, cleanup, motion editing, or technical design of facial and performance rigs.
• A precise eye for micro-expressions, emotional beats, and the details that make performances feel authentic.
• Familiarity with AI tools and workflows, including the ability to create visual samples for testing and comparison.
• Ability to describe complex visual details clearly and precisely for data captions and evaluation templates.
• This role is intended for character-performance animators. Experience limited to cinematography, lighting, camera, color, compositing, editing, generalist 3D, layout, previsualization, environments, or effects does not qualify on its own.

• Part-time, hourly W-2 employment, with potential placement on an AI lab''s extended workforce.
• Attend in-person working sessions in Playa Vista, California, or New York, New York, once or twice per month.
• Reliable access to a 4K-resolution monitor is preferred for pixel-level review.

$60 to $90 per hour.
