About this role

Role Overview

Subsurface and reservoir engineers apply reservoir simulation, production forecasting, and reserves reporting expertise to evaluate AI-generated outputs, produce expert analytical deliverables, and provide feedback that improves AI understanding of subsurface workflows and reservoir engineering practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate AI-generated content and provide detailed, expert feedback based on hands-on experience with reservoir simulation, production forecasting, and reserves reporting.
  • Independently produce expert-level analytical work and data outputs using the tools and workflows you use in professional practice.
  • Complete real work tasks in a structured, project-based format, for example building price forecast models or developing PPA documentation.
  • Execute standard subsurface workflows as required by projects, including reservoir simulation and production forecasting, SEC reserves reporting, well test analysis and interpretation, and production allocation calculations across working interest owners.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor''s degree or higher required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in subsurface engineering, reservoir analysis, or production operations in roles such as:
  • Reservoir Engineer or Reservoir Modeler / Petrophysicist
  • Reserves Engineer (SEC reporting)
  • Petroleum Production / Well Test Engineer
  • Production Allocation Analyst
  • Or equivalent roles in the energy industry
  • Ability to independently produce work using one or more of these tools: Techlog, Avocet, Petrel, ARIES.
  • Proven ability to independently complete workflows such as reservoir simulation and production forecasting, SEC Oil and Gas Reserves Reporting, well test analysis and interpretation, and production allocation calculations.
  • Strong written communication skills, close attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and asynchronously.
Work Terms

Part-time, remote, hourly contract engagement with a flexible, asynchronous schedule and no minimum hour requirement. This is an ongoing, project-based arrangement that can be done alongside research, teaching, postdoctoral work, or industry employment. Most contributors work approximately 5 to 20 hours per week when participating in an active project. Placement on projects depends on current project needs, with opportunities to be considered for future projects as they become available.

Up to $80/hr (depending on the project)

Eligibility

F-1 students who are eligible for CPT or OPT may be eligible to participate. Confirm eligibility with your Designated School Official. If your school requires a CPT course for authorization, this engagement may not meet that requirement. STEM OPT is not supported.
