About this role

Role Overview

Reservoir engineers apply subsurface, reservoir, and production operations expertise to evaluate AI-generated content and produce expert-level training data that improves AI understanding of reservoir engineering workflows.

Key Responsibilities
  • Use hands-on experience from reservoir engineering, subsurface analysis, and production operations to review AI-generated responses for technical accuracy and relevance.
  • Create and annotate expert training data based on real-world workflows, models, and production scenarios.
  • Provide clear, actionable feedback that helps refine AI outputs for subsurface tasks.
  • Work asynchronously with AI research teams to complete review and annotation tasks on an hourly, contract basis.
Qualifications
  • At least 2 years of professional experience in reservoir engineering, subsurface analysis, or production operations.
  • Relevant roles include Reservoir Engineer, Petrophysicist, Production Engineer, Reserves Analyst, or equivalent positions in the energy industry.
  • Hands-on experience with one or more of the following software tools: Spotfire, CMG, MBAL, FracPro, PVTi, WellView, Petrel.
  • Strong written communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and asynchronously with remote teams.
  • No prior AI experience required.
Work Terms
  • Engagement type: hourly contract work, part-time.
  • Location: fully remote, work from anywhere.
  • Schedule: flexible, asynchronous workflow with no minimum hour requirement; most contributors work approximately 5-20 hours per week when participating in an active project.
  • This is an ongoing, project-based engagement you can take on alongside other commitments.
  • Placement on specific projects depends on current project needs, with opportunities to be considered for future projects as they become available.
Compensation
  • Up to $80/hr (depending on the project)
