About this role

Role Overview

Physics specialists apply advanced physics knowledge to evaluate, refine, and create domain-specific content for large language models, helping improve model accuracy and explainability in physics subfields.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop domain-specific prompts for LLMs.
  • Evaluate and score LLM responses for correctness, clarity, and pedagogical value.
  • Research physics topics of interest and use AI tools to assist investigation and documentation.
  • Provide expert feedback to guide model improvements across physics subdomains.
  • Learn new skills relevant to AI evaluation and contribute to interdisciplinary projects as needed.
  • Accept project assignments based on availability and participate in onboarding for each project.
Qualifications
  • Master''s degree in physics is required.
  • Comfortable working primarily asynchronously and independently, while coordinating with researchers and teams at leading AI labs.
  • Confident that your subject-matter expertise can outperform current AI systems on key physics concepts and explanations.
  • Interest in learning new methods and tools for AI evaluation and model development.
Work Terms
  • Remote, asynchronous role, work from any location.
  • Part-time commitment, approximately 10 to 20 hours per week, with flexible scheduling.
  • Project placement is year-round but depends on availability by domain, so assignments will vary over time.
Compensation
  • Up to $50/hr (depending on the project)
Eligibility
  • This role is open to U.S.-based doctoral students, doctoral candidates, and recent graduates who hold valid work or training authorization, for example F-1/OPT, J-1, or H-1B.
  • Candidates must confirm eligibility and ensure compliance with their visa or program sponsor before applying.
  • At this time, candidates on STEM OPT who require a new Form I-983 cannot be accommodated. Individuals with an already approved I-983 are not affected. Applicants on pre-grad OPT, CPT, J-1, or H-1B remain eligible. These conditions may change in the future.
Application Process
  • Create an account and complete the candidate profile.
  • Complete required identity verification steps.
  • Review and express interest in available projects, then complete project-specific onboarding when selected.
  • Begin assigned work and receive compensation according to project terms.
