Role Overview
Help improve AI systems used in healthcare financial clearance by applying your expertise in charity care, financial assistance, Medicaid screening, self-pay collections, and patient financial advocacy. This role evaluates and provides structured feedback on AI-generated financial counselling guidance, eligibility determinations, and patient communications to support stronger patient access and revenue-cycle operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead patient financial counselling and financial clearance operations, including charity care screening, financial assistance applications, and self-pay resolution.
- Review AI-generated financial counselling recommendations, eligibility-screening results, and patient communication drafts for accuracy and appropriateness.
- Screen patients for Medicaid eligibility, charity care qualification, and enrollment in financial assistance programs.
- Advise patients on financial obligations, payment-plan options, and available assistance programs.
- Partner with social work, case management, and billing teams on complex patient financial situations.
- Create and maintain standard operating procedures for pre-service financial screening, point-of-service collections, and other financial clearance workflows.
- Track charity care conversion, financial assistance enrollment, and point-of-service collection performance.
- Maintain compliance with financial assistance regulations, including 501(r) requirements and EMTALA.
- Annotate AI outputs and deliver structured feedback for AI training datasets.
Qualifications
- At least 5 years of experience in patient financial counselling, financial clearance, or self-pay revenue-cycle management, including at least 2 years in a leadership role.
- Deep knowledge of charity care programs, financial assistance eligibility, Medicaid screening, and self-pay collections.
- Familiarity with 501(r) requirements and hospital financial assistance policy compliance.
- Experience with point-of-service collections, payment-plan administration, and patient financial advocacy.
- Proficiency with EHR platforms such as Epic and Cerner, plus financial assistance management tools.
- Exceptional written and verbal English communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to assess financial documentation and AI-generated outputs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Revenue Cycle Representative certification or a similar revenue-cycle credential.
- Experience with presumptive eligibility screening tools and Medicaid enrollment facilitation.
- Experience in a hospital, health system, or federally qualified health center setting.
- Comfort using AI tools and evaluating AI-generated patient financial content.
- Experience developing patient financial education materials and staff training programs.
Work Terms
- Remote, hourly engagement.
Compensation
- $135 per hour.
