Role Overview
Help improve AI tools that support self-pay revenue recovery and patient financial engagement. In this leadership-focused role, you will apply expertise in self-pay collections, payment plan administration, and patient financial advocacy to assess AI-generated recommendations and communications, helping strengthen patient payment experiences while supporting revenue recovery.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead patient collections and self-pay operations, including early-out collections, bad debt management, and payment plan administration.
- Review AI-generated patient financial communications, payment-plan recommendations, and self-pay resolution strategies for accuracy and compliance.
- Develop and implement self-pay collection strategies across pre-service, point-of-service, and post-service stages of the revenue cycle.
- Manage payment-plan enrollment, monitoring, and compliance processes.
- Partner with financial counseling, billing, and bad debt recovery teams to improve self-pay revenue capture.
- Track self-pay collection rates, payment-plan conversion rates, bad debt write-off rates, and patient satisfaction scores.
- Maintain compliance with FDCPA, HIPAA, applicable state collections laws, and internal patient financial-assistance policies.
- Oversee collection-agency and early-out vendor relationships when applicable.
- Annotate AI outputs and provide structured feedback for AI training datasets.
Qualifications
- At least 5 years of experience in patient collections, self-pay revenue cycle, or patient financial services, including at least 2 years in a leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of self-pay collection workflows, FDCPA compliance, and patient financial-engagement practices.
- Experience managing early-out and bad debt collection programs, including vendor oversight.
- Familiarity with propensity-to-pay tools and patient payment technology platforms.
- Proficiency with EHR systems and patient collections or billing platforms.
- Exceptional written and verbal English communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to assess collection strategies and identify issues in AI-generated patient communications.
Preferred Qualifications
- CRCR, CHAM, or a similar revenue-cycle certification.
- Experience with digital patient payment platforms and text- or email-based collections outreach.
- Patient financial-services experience in a hospital, health system, or physician group.
- Familiarity with AI tools and comfort evaluating AI-generated patient financial communications.
- Experience using propensity-to-pay analytics to prioritize collection efforts.
Work Terms
- Remote, hourly engagement.
Compensation
- $92 per hour.
