About this role
Medicine experts apply clinical and research knowledge to design, test, and evaluate large language model behavior in medical domains, improving how AI systems understand and explain clinical and scientific concepts.
Key Responsibilities- Develop domain-specific prompts and tasks to probe model understanding of medical topics.
- Evaluate and score LLM responses for accuracy, clarity, and safety within medical subdomains.
- Conduct independent literature or topic research, using AI tools as appropriate, to prepare evaluation materials and provide subject-matter context.
- Participate in small, focused project cohorts selected for disciplinary and research expertise.
- Contribute to iterative improvement cycles by documenting errors, edge cases, and recommended refinements for models.
- Medical degree required, M.D. or D.O., or a PhD in Medicine from a US institution.
- Comfort working asynchronously and independently, including coordinating with research teams or labs remotely.
- Confidence that your expertise exceeds current AI systems in explaining and reasoning about key concepts in your field.
- Interest in learning new skills and applying them to interdisciplinary AI research.
This is a part-time, remote, asynchronous role with flexible scheduling. There is no minimum hourly commitment. The overall program runs year-round, however placement into specific projects depends on availability by domain. Selection for each project is limited to a small cohort chosen for their relevant disciplinary and research expertise.
CompensationUp to $125/hr (depending on the project)
Eligibility- Degree requirement: M.D., D.O., or PhD from a US institution is required.
- International students on F-1 may be eligible if they have appropriate CPT or OPT authorization. Discuss eligibility with your Designated School Official, since some schools require a CPT course and this program may not meet those course requirements.
