About this role
Materials modeling engineers apply computational modeling, materials simulation, and research-engineering expertise to evaluate AI-generated work and provide feedback that improves AI understanding of materials modeling practices.
Role OverviewThis flexible, hourly contract engagement supports AI research and can be performed alongside research, teaching, postdoctoral work, or industry employment.
Key Responsibilities- Independently produce expert analytical work and data outputs using the tools and workflows of your professional practice.
- Evaluate AI-generated content and deliver detailed feedback grounded in computational modeling, materials simulation, and research workflows.
- Complete structured, project-based work tasks, which may include building price forecast models or developing PPA documentation.
- At least 2 years of professional experience in materials science, computational modeling, or research engineering.
- Relevant backgrounds may include Materials Scientist, Materials Modeling Engineer, Battery R&D Engineer, Computational Chemist, Modeling & Simulation Engineer, Controls Engineer, or comparable roles in the energy or research sector.
- Hands-on experience with MATLAB, Materials Studio, or both.
- Strong written communication, close attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in an asynchronous environment.
- Remote, part-time contract engagement with a flexible, asynchronous schedule and no minimum-hour requirement.
- Contributors typically work approximately 5 to 20 hours per week while assigned to an active project.
- Project placement depends on current needs; qualified applicants may be considered for future projects as they become available.
Up to $80/hr (depending on the project)
Eligibility- F-1 students eligible for CPT or OPT may be eligible for projects. Consult your Designated School Official to confirm eligibility.
- If your school requires a CPT course, this engagement may not meet that requirement. STEM OPT is not supported.
