About this role

Role Overview

Geoscientists apply field and interpretive geology expertise to evaluate AI-generated geoscience content, identify errors or gaps, and provide detailed feedback that improves how AI models understand geology concepts, workflows, and technical language. This is project-based, part-time contract work that can be done alongside primary employment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review AI-generated answers, explanations, and technical outputs for accuracy, relevance, and alignment with real-world geologic practice.
  • Design job-related questions or tasks that reflect typical geologic investigations, interpretations, and reporting workflows.
  • Provide clear, constructive feedback and corrections that capture domain nuance, technical terminology, and best practices.
  • Follow written guidelines for evaluations and maintain high standards of confidentiality when handling sensitive or proprietary information.
Qualifications
  • At least 4+ years of professional experience as a Geologist or in a closely related geoscience role.
  • Hands-on experience performing field investigations, interpreting geologic data, and preparing technical reports or deliverables.
  • Strong written communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently.
  • Professional judgment, reliability, and discretion when evaluating material that may be confidential or proprietary.
  • No prior AI or technical experience is required to participate.
Work Terms
  • Engagement type: Independent contractor, not a full-time employee.
  • Location: Fully remote, work from anywhere with a reliable internet connection.
  • Equipment: Access to a desktop or laptop computer is required.
  • Schedule: Flexible and asynchronous. There is no minimum hour requirement; contributors commonly work approximately 5 to 20 hours per week when assigned to an active project.
  • Project availability: The program runs year-round with projects opening periodically across different geoscience areas. Placement on projects depends on current needs, and qualifying contributors may be considered for future projects as they become available.
Compensation
  • Pay rate: Up to $100/hr (depending on the project).
Eligibility and Work Authorization
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work as independent contractors in their location.
  • F-1 students may be eligible if they have CPT or OPT authorization; consult your Designated School Official to confirm eligibility. If your school requires enrollment in a CPT course, this type of project may not meet that requirement. STEM OPT is not supported.
Application Process
  • Create an account on the program portal and complete the initial profile information.
  • Complete identity verification as required by the program.
  • Apply to or indicate interest in relevant geoscience projects, and complete any onboarding steps for those projects.
  • When selected, begin assigned tasks and submit evaluations to earn compensation.
