About this role

Role Overview

Lead rapid, domain-grounded evaluations of finance tasks and workflows to confirm they reflect real professional practice in public finance and empirical policy. This is a time-sensitive, high-engagement Finance Sprint beginning within 24 hours and running intensively over the following week, with confidential and varying task content.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review individual finance tasks and workflows for professional realism, clarity, scope, and internal consistency.
  • Assess whether task inputs, context, and expected workflows match how work is actually performed in your domain.
  • Identify missing assumptions, ambiguous instructions, unsupported requirements, impractical constraints, and material edge cases.
  • Flag tasks that are too broad, too generic, or unlikely to produce meaningful signal of real finance capability.
  • Provide concise, structured written feedback and targeted recommendations to improve task realism.
  • When needed, cross-check task logic with trusted domain peers to maintain consistency and a high bar across the sprint.
Qualifications
  • Practitioner track: 5 to 12 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Senior reviewer track: 10 to 18 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Relevant backgrounds include public-sector finance, municipal credit, public pensions, fiscal policy, applied economics, or empirical finance.
  • Strong quantitative reasoning, with fluency in financial or econometric analysis.
  • Ability to assess evidence quality, methodological choices, causal claims, and policy interpretations.
  • Excellent written communication, able to explain not only whether something is correct, but why.
  • High attention to detail and sound professional judgment.
  • Experience reviewing analysts, approving work, designing controls, or setting quality standards is especially valuable for the senior track.
Work Terms
  • Location: Remote.
  • Employment type: hourly engagement.
  • Sprint timing: starts within 24 hours of posting, intensive engagement over the next week.
  • Availability requirement: apply only if you can remain actively involved for the sprint period, and respond to project updates within the same day.
  • Task cadence and duration: some tasks require multi-hour sessions, typically around 2 to 4 hours, and may need completion in one sitting.
  • Communication: keep Slack notifications on and respond to questions, feedback, and updates during the day.
  • Selection and placement: offers are first-come, first-served, and exact task content is confidential and may vary during the sprint.
Compensation

$115 to $150 hourly.

Application Process
  • Apply as soon as possible, because selection is first-come, first-served.
  • If selected you must be ready to begin within 24 hours and remain active for the sprint week.
  • Selected participants will receive task instructions and coordination via Slack, and must complete assigned reviews and provide structured feedback in line with the sprint schedule.
