Sustainability and ESG Analyst for AI Research

ESG Analysts apply sustainability and environmental compliance expertise to evaluate AI-generated content and complete real-world analytical tasks. You will use hands-on experience in carbon accounting, GHG reporting, and environmental compliance to produce expert-level outputs that help AI systems better understand ESG workflows and practices.

• Assess and annotate AI-generated content related to sustainability, carbon accounting, and regulatory compliance.
• Produce expert analytical outputs and structured data using the tools and workflows from your professional practice.
• Complete project work that mirrors real job tasks, for example building price forecast models or preparing power purchase agreement documentation.
• Provide clear, detailed feedback to research teams to improve AI understanding of ESG processes.
• Work independently and asynchronously with research teams, following project-specific instructions and quality standards.

• Minimum 2 years of professional experience in sustainability, ESG, or environmental compliance in roles such as Sustainability Manager, ESG Analyst, Carbon Accounting Manager, GHG Inventory Lead, Environmental Compliance Manager, EHS Manager, or equivalent positions in the energy or industrial sectors.
• Practical, hands-on experience with one or more of the following tools: Persefoni, GaBi, EPA eGGRT, VelocityEHS.
• Demonstrated experience in carbon accounting, GHG reporting, or environmental compliance workstreams.
• Strong written communication, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in an asynchronous environment.

• Engagement is hourly, contract-based, and project-driven rather than a traditional salaried role.
• Fully remote, with a flexible, asynchronous schedule and no minimum hours required.
• Most contributors work approximately 5, 20 hours per week when participating in an active project.
• This is an ongoing, project-based arrangement that can be done alongside research, teaching, postdoctoral appointments, or industry employment.
• Placement on specific projects depends on current project needs; contributors may be considered for future projects as they become available.

Pay is hourly, up to $80/hr (depending on the project).

• F-1 students who are eligible for CPT or OPT may qualify to participate, subject to your school and Designated School Official guidance.
• If your school requires enrollment in a CPT course, this program may not meet that requirement.
• STEM OPT is not supported.
• Consult your Designated School Official and the program Help Center for details about acceptable work authorizations.

• Create a contributor profile with the program and complete identity verification.
• Review and accept onboarding materials for projects that match your expertise.
• Opt in to relevant projects, complete required onboarding for each project, then begin assigned tasks and receive payment for hours worked.
