Sustainability and ESG Analyst for AI Research

ESG Analysts apply hands-on sustainability, carbon accounting, and environmental compliance expertise to evaluate AI-generated content and produce professional-level analytical outputs that improve how AI systems understand ESG workflows and practices. Work is project-based and designed to fit alongside research, teaching, postdoctoral activities, or industry employment.

• Review and evaluate AI-generated sustainability and ESG content, including carbon accounting and GHG reporting outputs, for technical accuracy and alignment with professional practice.
• Provide detailed feedback that guides AI models to better reflect real-world ESG workflows and compliance expectations.
• Independently complete expert-level, project-scoped tasks using your standard professional tools and methods, for example building price forecast models or developing power purchase agreement documentation.
• Produce data outputs and written analyses that mirror work you would perform in a typical sustainability, ESG, or environmental compliance role.

• Minimum 2 years of professional experience in sustainability, ESG, or environmental compliance, in roles such as Sustainability Manager, ESG Analyst, Carbon Accounting Manager, GHG Inventory Lead, Environmental Compliance Manager, or EHS Manager, or equivalent positions in the energy or industrial sector.
• Practical, hands-on experience with one or more of the following tools: Persefoni, GaBi, EPA eGGRT, VelocityEHS.
• Strong written communication, close attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and asynchronously with AI research teams.

• Engagement type: Part-time, hourly contract work, fully remote.
• Schedule: Flexible, asynchronous hours with no minimum commitment; contributors typically work about 5 to 20 hours per week when assigned to an active project.
• This is ongoing, project-based work that can be performed alongside other professional or academic commitments.

Up to $80/hr (depending on the project)

• F-1 students who are eligible for CPT or OPT may be eligible to participate, but you must consult your Designated School Official to confirm whether a given project meets your school’s CPT requirements. If your school requires enrollment in a CPT course, these projects may not satisfy that requirement.
• STEM OPT is not supported for this engagement.
• You must meet any local or national work-authorization requirements applicable to independent contract work.

Placement on specific projects depends on current project needs. Candidates may be considered for future projects as new work becomes available.

• Enroll in onboarding for projects that match your skills and complete any project-specific setup.
• Begin assigned tasks once onboarded and follow project instructions to deliver outputs and feedback.
