Role Overview

Environmental Analysts apply hands-on environmental assessment, GIS analysis, and renewable energy siting expertise to evaluate AI-generated content and produce expert training data that improves AI understanding of environmental workflows and geospatial practices. This is a flexible, project-based contracting role that can be performed alongside other professional commitments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Use your practical experience with environmental assessments, GIS workflows, and renewable energy siting to judge the accuracy and relevance of AI-generated responses.
  • Create expert-level training data based on real-world methods, tools, and decision criteria used in environmental and siting analyses.
  • Provide clear, detailed feedback that helps researchers refine AI outputs to match professional environmental and geospatial standards.
  • Apply knowledge of day-to-day tools and datasets to evaluate AI performance in realistic scenarios.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years of professional experience in environmental analysis, GIS, or renewable energy siting in roles such as Environmental Analyst, GIS Analyst, Interconnection Specialist, Solar Design Engineer, or equivalent positions in the energy industry.
  • Hands-on experience with one or more of the following tools: ArcGIS, Oracle MDM, Aurora Solar.
  • Strong written communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and asynchronously with research teams.
  • No prior experience with AI required, only domain expertise and practical tool knowledge.
Work Terms
  • Location: Remote.
  • Employment type: PART_TIME, hourly contract work, independent contractor arrangement.
  • Schedule: Flexible, asynchronous work, no minimum hour requirement; when participating in an active project most contributors work approximately 5 to 20 hours per week.
  • Engagement model: Ongoing, project-based assignments. Placement on specific projects depends on current project needs, with the possibility of being considered for future projects as they become available.
Compensation
  • Up to $85/hr (depending on the project).
