About this role
This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to Project Atlas, an initiative aimed at creating realistic enterprise environments for training and evaluating frontier AI agents. As an electronics manufacturing and hardware engineering expert, you will leverage your experience from leading semiconductor, consumer electronics, and networking hardware companies to recreate digital workspaces and design tasks that challenge state-of-the-art AI.
Key Responsibilities- Build a realistic digital workspace based on your daily Drive folders, including design review decks, schematic/layout files, test reports, yield analyses, BOMs, ECOs, reliability/validation reports, and relevant email threads, incorporating platforms like ANSYS Fluent simulations, Siemens Opcenter MES, and GitHub/GitLab.
- Design multi-step tasks that reflect your real workflows, requiring navigation across multiple applications, files, and stakeholders to effectively challenge frontier AI agents.
- Collaborate with other electronics manufacturing experts to design the environment, define task scopes, and review scenarios for realism and rigor.
- Work asynchronously with research teams to refine task designs and establish evaluation criteria for electronics manufacturing agent benchmarks.
- Contribute to frontier AI research and benchmarking, with your work directly influencing how leading labs train and evaluate the next generation of AI systems.
- BS/MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 3+ years of full-time experience at a Fortune 500 semiconductor, consumer electronics, or networking hardware company, or a major contract manufacturer (e.g., Foxconn, Flex, Jabil, Celestica).
- Experience in one or more areas such as:
- Semiconductor design (digital/analog/mixed-signal, IC/SoC).
- Semiconductor fabrication, process integration, or yield engineering.
- PCB design, electronic assembly, or SMT manufacturing.
- Hardware test engineering, validation, or reliability (HALT/HASS).
- Electronics supply chain, sourcing, or NPI/sustaining engineering.
- Proficient in using ANSYS Fluent/STAR-CCM+, Siemens Opcenter or Rockwell FactoryTalk, and GitHub/GitLab.
- Strong analytical thinking and writing skills, with the ability to translate electronics workflows into structured task specifications.
This project will initially offer an effective hourly rate, transitioning to a compensation model based on the throughput of quality work rather than a flat hourly rate.
