Role Overview
Help shape the compensation and equity foundation for a rapidly scaling organization with approximately 500 employees, a large global contractor network, and a growing full-time workforce. This hourly consulting opportunity focuses on practical, live Total Rewards questions, including compensation philosophy, cross-functional leveling, and how equity is granted and communicated.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise on compensation design and architecture, including salary bands, leveling frameworks, and job architecture built from the ground up.
- Apply experience running annual compensation cycles, including merit planning, promotion decisions, bonus programs, and equity refreshes.
- Provide defensible peer benchmarking and communicate recommendations to executive stakeholders.
- Design incentive structures that are straightforward, credible, and behaviorally effective.
- Advise on equity programs, including option and RSU grant guidelines, pool planning, vesting structures, and refresh philosophy.
- Support 409A valuation processes, plan governance, grant administration, equity modeling, and candidate and employee equity communications.
Qualifications
Deep experience in at least one of the following areas is required. Experience across the full Total Rewards function is welcome.
- Compensation design and architecture.
- Equity program management in a venture-backed company.

Work Terms
- Remote, hourly independent contractor engagement.
- Engagements are scoped to a single question and typically require a few hours at a time.
- Applications begin with a short screening process. Candidates whose experience is a fit will be invited to a paid discussion about a current business question.
- The discussion is paid whether or not a subsequent engagement follows.
- Every submission is reviewed.
Compensation
$50 to $200 per hour, based on depth of experience.
