Role Overview
Chemistry Specialist roles apply advanced chemistry knowledge to create and assess domain-specific prompts and to evaluate large language model responses, helping improve AI performance on chemistry problems and explanations.
Key Responsibilities- Develop domain-specific prompts for chemistry tasks and scenarios.
- Evaluate and score LLM responses for accuracy, clarity, and usefulness in chemistry contexts.
- Research chemistry topics that interest you, using AI tools as an aid to inform assessments and prompt design.
- Learn and apply new skills that advance model evaluation across chemistry subdomains.
- Master’s student or graduate specializing in chemistry.
- Comfortable working primarily asynchronously and independently, in collaboration with AI research teams.
- Confidence that your subject-matter expertise can outperform current AI systems at understanding and explaining key chemistry concepts.
- Part-time, remote, asynchronous work from any location.
- Flexible schedule with an expected commitment of approximately 10 to 20 hours per week.
- The program runs year-round, however project availability varies by domain, and placement into specific projects depends on current openings.
- Up to $50/hr (depending on the project)
- Open to U.S.-based doctoral students, doctoral candidates, and recent graduates who have valid work or training authorization, for example F-1 with OPT, J-1, or H-1B.
- Applicants are responsible for confirming they meet visa or program sponsor requirements before applying.
- Candidates who require a new STEM OPT I-983 are not eligible at this time. Candidates with an already approved I-983, and those on pre-graduation OPT, CPT, J-1, or H-1B status, are not affected by this restriction. These eligibility conditions may change in the future.
- Create a candidate profile and submit the requested information.
- Complete identity verification as part of compliance checks.
- Onboard into relevant chemistry projects by completing any required project-specific setup steps.
