Chemistry Expert for AI Model Training

Chemistry specialists apply advanced knowledge of chemical principles to design domain-specific prompts, evaluate large language model outputs for accuracy and clarity, and help improve AI performance within chemistry subfields. This remote, part-time role focuses on hands-on model evaluation, prompt creation, and research tasks that inform AI behavior in technical chemistry topics.

• Develop and refine domain-specific prompts and tasks that test chemical understanding.
• Evaluate and annotate LLM responses for correctness, clarity, and alignment with accepted chemistry concepts.
• Research chemistry topics and prepare reference notes or explanations, using AI tools as appropriate.
• Provide feedback on model weaknesses and recommend areas for improvement.
• Operate independently on asynchronous assignments and collaborate with project teams as needed.

• Master''s student or graduate with a focus in chemistry.
• Comfortable working primarily asynchronously and independently across remote projects.
• Confident that your subject-matter expertise can exceed current AI systems in explaining and applying key chemistry concepts.

• The program runs year-round, however placement into specific projects depends on project availability, which varies by domain.

Up to $50/hr (depending on the project)

• Open to U.S.-based doctoral students, doctoral candidates, and recent graduates who have valid work or training authorization, for example F-1 with OPT, J-1, or H-1B.
• Applicants are responsible for confirming their own visa or program sponsor requirements and ensuring compliance with those conditions prior to applying.
• At this time, candidates on STEM OPT who require an i-983 form cannot be accommodated. Fellows who already have an approved i-983, and those on pre-graduation OPT, CPT, J-1, or H-1B status, are not impacted by this restriction. These eligibility rules may change in the future.
