About this role

Role Overview

Chemistry experts apply advanced chemical knowledge to evaluate AI-generated scientific content and deliver detailed feedback that improves AI performance in chemical reasoning, experimental design, reaction mechanisms, data interpretation, and technical problem solving. This is a flexible, hourly contract role suitable to hold alongside research, teaching, postdoctoral appointments, or industry work.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design rigorous, domain-relevant questions and tasks that probe chemical knowledge and reasoning.
  • Review and score AI-generated responses for scientific accuracy, logical consistency, and chemical validity.
  • Identify errors, unsafe recommendations, or misleading conclusions in model outputs and explain the correct reasoning or evidence.
  • Provide clear, actionable feedback and annotated examples to help refine AI behavior in chemistry topics.
  • Follow project-specific guidelines and complete required onboarding for each assignment. No prior AI or technical experience is required.
Qualifications
  • Current doctoral students, PhD graduates, or postdoctoral researchers in Chemistry or closely related fields.
  • Strong background in advanced chemical reasoning, experimental design, reaction mechanisms, data analysis, and core principles across one or more subdisciplines such as organic, inorganic, physical, analytical, materials, or computational chemistry.
  • Ability to communicate technical feedback clearly and to document reasoning for reviews.
Work Terms
  • Employment type: Part-time, hourly contract work.
  • Location: Fully remote, asynchronous work.
  • Schedule: Flexible, no minimum hour requirement. Most contributors work approximately 5, 20 hours per week when participating in an active project.
  • Engagement: Ongoing, project-based participation. This is not a traditional academic or full-time role.
  • Placement: Assignment to projects depends on current project needs. Contributors may be considered for future projects as new needs arise.
Compensation

Paid hourly. Up to $75/hr (depending on the project)

Eligibility and Work Authorization
  • F-1 students who are eligible for CPT or OPT may be eligible to participate, subject to your school rules. Work with your Designated School Official to confirm whether participation meets your school s CPT or OPT requirements.
  • If your school requires enrollment in a CPT course or other specific course-based authorization, this program may not satisfy those requirements.
  • STEM OPT is not supported for this work.
Application Process
  • Create an account on the project platform and submit the requested profile information.
  • Complete identity verification and any required qualification assessments.
  • Onboard into relevant projects by reviewing project instructions and completing any project-specific training.
  • Accept assignments and begin performing reviews to earn hourly pay. Note that immediate placement is not guaranteed and depends on active project needs.
