Role Overview
Cartographers and photogrammetrists apply professional mapping and imagery expertise to evaluate AI-generated outputs, create domain-specific prompts, and provide clear, structured feedback that improves model performance on mapping and photogrammetry tasks. No prior AI experience is required.
Key Responsibilities- Evaluate AI model responses and outputs related to mapping, imagery interpretation, and photogrammetric products.
- Develop prompts and scenarios that reflect real-world cartography and photogrammetry tasks.
- Assess content for accuracy, completeness, and practical usefulness in your field.
- Deliver clear, structured feedback that helps models better understand workplace language, tasks, and standards.
- Work asynchronously with research teams, following provided guidelines for evaluations and annotations.
- At least 4 years of professional experience in cartography, photogrammetry, or closely related roles.
- Relevant professional experience may include one or more of the following duties:
- Compiling and analyzing data from aerial photographs, surveys, and satellite images to create and revise detailed maps and charts, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Using precision stereoplotting apparatus and computer graphics to delineate topographic and cultural features.
- Employing drone technology for high-resolution data collection and updating digital spatial databases.
- Ability to participate in asynchronous evaluation work in collaboration with AI research teams.
- Location: Remote, work independently from any location.
- Engagement type: Part time, hourly, temporary research projects.
- Schedule: Flexible hours with no minimum commitment required; most contributors average 5 to 20 hours per week.
- Work format: Asynchronous tasks, completed on your own schedule within project timelines.
- Placement caveat: Project assignment depends on project availability. The program runs year-round and new project opportunities open periodically.

- F-1 students who are eligible for CPT or OPT may be eligible to participate, subject to school and DSO guidance.
- If your school requires enrollment in a CPT course, this program may not meet that requirement.
- STEM OPT is not supported for participation.
- Work with your Designated School Official to confirm whether a given project''s terms meet your institution''s requirements, and consult the program''s help resources for details on supported work authorizations.
- Create an account with the program and complete a profile that highlights your cartography or photogrammetry experience.
- Complete identity verification as required for participation in evaluations.
- Join and complete onboarding for projects that match your expertise, including any required orientation or qualification tasks.
- When matched to a project, begin assigned evaluations and submit feedback to receive hourly compensation.
- Note that placement into specific projects is subject to availability; if no suitable project is immediately available, additional opportunities will open periodically.
