Role Overview

Biomedical engineering experts apply their domain knowledge to design and evaluate prompts, assess large language model outputs, and guide AI behavior for biomedical applications. This role focuses on improving model performance in biomedical subdomains through expert-led evaluation and content creation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop domain-specific prompts and tasks for large language models.
  • Evaluate and score LLM responses for technical accuracy, clarity, and safety.
  • Conduct independent research on biomedical topics, using AI tools as an aid.
  • Provide detailed feedback and examples that help refine model behavior in biomedical engineering areas.
Qualifications
  • Must be a junior, senior, or graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in biomedical engineering.
  • Must be at or have graduated from a top 20 undergraduate institution.
  • Comfortable working primarily asynchronously in collaboration with research teams and AI labs.
  • Confidence that your expertise can outperform current AI systems in explaining and reasoning about key biomedical engineering concepts.
  • Willingness to learn new skills while contributing to interdisciplinary AI research.
Work Terms
  • Location: Remote, asynchronous work from any suitable location.
  • Employment type: PART_TIME.
  • Typical commitment: approximately 10 to 20 hours per week, with flexible scheduling.
  • The program runs year-round, however project availability varies by domain and placement into a specific project depends on current openings.
Compensation
  • Pay rate: Up to $50/hr (depending on the project).
Eligibility
  • Open to U.S.-based doctoral students, candidates, and recent graduates who hold valid work or training authorization, for example F-1/OPT, J-1, or H-1B. Participants are responsible for ensuring they meet visa or sponsor conditions and should confirm eligibility with their program or visa sponsor before applying.
  • At this time, candidates on STEM OPT who require a new Form I-983 are not accommodated. Applicants with already approved I-983s, and those on pre-grad OPT, CPT, J-1, or H-1B, are not impacted by this restriction. These conditions may change in the future.
