About this role

Role Overview

Develop and review rigorous academic assessment content that supports AI research benchmarks across core areas of philosophy. Depending on assignment, you will either author original multiple-choice questions or verify existing questions for quality and accuracy.

Philosophy Domains

Formal Ontology and Knowledge Representation, AI Ethics, Applied Epistemology, Philosophy of Technology and Robotics, and Philosophy of Science.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create challenging, original multiple-choice philosophy questions that assess deep conceptual understanding rather than recall.
  • Ensure every question is self-contained, unambiguous, and precisely defined, with all necessary information included in the prompt.
  • Assign a difficulty rating of Medium, for introductory undergraduate level, Hard, for advanced undergraduate level, or Expert, for postgraduate level and above.
  • Provide one correct answer and nine plausible, subtly incorrect alternatives designed to challenge expert-level solvers.
  • Write clear, concise, step-by-step reasoning for solutions in Markdown.
  • Include one to five academic references per question from reputable sources, such as peer-reviewed journals and university repositories.
  • For verification assignments, assess questions for clarity, completeness, precision, accuracy, and solvability; revise as needed and document the rationale for changes.

Qualifications

  • PhD or doctoral candidacy in Philosophy or a closely related field.
  • A master''s degree may be considered for candidates with exceptional depth in a specific philosophy subdomain.
  • Strong command of philosophical argumentation, formal logic, and canonical texts across traditions.
  • Research publications or philosophy teaching experience is strongly preferred.
  • Excellent written English and the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and concisely.

Work Terms

  • Fully remote, asynchronous hourly engagement.
  • Expected commitment of at least 10 hours per week.

Compensation

$50 to $63 per hour.
