About this role

Role Overview

Help improve next-generation AI systems by creating realistic, multi-step software engineering workflows based on real GitHub-centered development practices. You will turn your domain expertise into detailed, well-documented scenarios that show how engineers manage pull requests, triage issues, resolve merge conflicts, update CI configuration, and make informed decisions throughout the development process. Prior AI experience is not required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and write detailed task scenarios that reflect authentic software engineering work, including pull request management, issue triage, merge conflict resolution, and CI configuration updates in GitHub.
  • Perform and document workflows in real time using the relevant tools, recording each step, rationale, edge case, and decision point.
  • Use collaboration tools such as Slack, Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace, and Snowflake where appropriate to create end-to-end engineering scenarios.
  • Create structured workflow documentation covering step order, intent, expected outcomes, and supporting visual materials such as screenshots or logs when needed.
  • Identify ambiguous or unrealistic scenarios, share them with the data program team, and refine workflows in response to feedback.
  • Submit deliverables and work with project leads through an internal annotation platform.

Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of professional software engineering experience with daily use of GitHub-centered workflows.
  • Strong written English skills and careful attention to clarity, consistency, and process documentation.
  • Practical experience using Slack and Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace in regular engineering work.
  • Experience designing or participating in code review, versioning, branching, or release workflows.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, code review platforms, or process documentation systems is advantageous.
  • Basic SQL skills, preferably with Snowflake, are a plus but not required.
  • Experience in data annotation, technical writing, or QA documentation is a bonus.

Work Terms

  • Remote independent contractor engagement.

Compensation

  • $14 to $36 per hour.
