About this role

Role Overview

Apply advanced expertise in high energy and mathematical physics to help train next-generation AI systems. This remote contract role calls for senior academic or research leaders who can assess complex technical work with rigor, explain nuanced judgments clearly, and provide high-quality real-world input that improves how AI systems reason and perform. Prior AI experience is not required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Adjudicate contested or competing physics arguments, solutions, and interpretations within your subfield.
  • Compare alternative approaches to a problem, explaining which is stronger, under which assumptions, and in which regimes.
  • Define the higher-level criteria used to assess robustness and validity, including critical assumptions and where approximations may fail.
  • Provide authoritative, appropriately calibrated assessments while clearly identifying genuine uncertainty and open questions.
  • Write rigorous, defensible evaluations suitable for review by senior physicists.
  • Use LaTeX, SymPy, Python, and Jupyter as needed to verify or compare technical claims.
  • Clearly distinguish unresolved field questions from conclusions supported by the available evidence.

Qualifications

  • PhD in physics with demonstrated expertise and scholarly impact in the relevant subfield.
  • Current or former Associate Professor, Full Professor, Chair Professor, Principal Investigator, or Group Leader with a record of independent research leadership.
  • Active research experience using one or more of the following: AdS/CFT, on-shell gravitational action, Weyl, Fefferman, Graham gauge, or tensor algebra involving boundary-curvature invariants.
  • Three to five recent representative publications in the target subfield, with arXiv or DOI references.
  • Experience supervising PhD students or postdoctoral researchers, or equivalent leadership in an industry research setting.
  • Proficiency with LaTeX, SymPy, Python, and Jupyter. Please identify any gaps in experience with these tools.
  • Exceptional written communication, physics mastery, sound judgment in ambiguous cases, meta-level reasoning, and the ability to articulate well-supported conclusions.

Work Terms

  • Remote contract engagement.

Compensation

  • $80 to $160 per hour.
